Neurosurgeons are specialists in surgery of the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord) and peripheral nervous system (the nerves that run through our body), as well as its covers (the skull and spinal column) and its appendages (such as the pituitary gland).
Our patients span all ages of life, from newborns to the very old. Our objective and dedication is mainly oriented to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases that can be improved or cured with surgical intervention. Medical treatment (pharmacological, for example) is usually entrusted to our fellow neurologists, with whom we collaborate, as well as other medical and surgical specialties (ENT, maxillofacial, plastic, vascular, and thoracic surgeons, etc.) in a joint approach to the cases that affect common areas.
